Description: This conference is a celebration of the Reading Academy readings and assignments. Participants will be treated to a keynote speaker and sessions on best strategies in literacy as well as time to review the readings. The main focus in our strategies and best practices will be Comprehension Strategies. Each Reading Academy has the participants read a new reading list and is developed around a key reading component, which is Comprehension Strategies for the April 6 session. This allows participants to earn their Continuing Education Units in Reading Academy more than once a year because the content is completely different each time.

Description: The South Central Service Cooperative (SCSC) in conjunction with Minnesota’s Regional Centers of Excellence are launching a new Professional Learning Community for Principals in South Central Minnesota. Further, this offering includes follow-up 1x1 meetings for interested principals at their school sites for more tailored discussions. A planning meeting will be held April 18 from 1-2:30 at SCSC. At this meeting we’ll cover such details as our purpose and mission, meeting frequency, meeting agenda, time and location of meetings, recruitment and membership. As someone whose opinion I value, I am inviting you to this planning meeting to best organize these Learning Communities.
Comment: This learning community is intended to be a regular, ongoing, bedrock of support for principals based on a supportive and collaborative environment. Dr. Mary Jenatscheck, a Principal Leadership Specialist within the Regional Centers, will organize and facilitate efforts. Topics will be framed within the scope of instructional leadership and drawn from the group based on interest and impact. Such topics could include the principal’s role in guiding change, leading specific instructional practices, meeting the unique needs of specific student groups or individual learners needs, assessing teacher effectiveness, tackling issues of equity, working with diverse people and groups, or the obstacles that come with wearing multiple hats, meeting excessive expectations and having too little time. Topics will be contextual, drawing upon real-life, day-to-day principal efforts. The choice of topics is aimed at supporting continual improvement while moving in a sustained direction. This is intended to be a group of principals for principals!

Description: This training addresses formal investigations, which include multiple witnesses and disputed facts, with possible significant harm. During this training, participants will walk through all the steps of intake, inquiry and investigation. Participants will also receive training on conducting interviews about complaints with students and school staff. The training is designed to comply with local policy as well as state and federal laws and the Office for Civil Rights guidelines to ensure consistent and thorough investigation and documentation of bullying and harassment complaints, ensuring students learn in safe and supportive environments while also reducing the risk of lawsuits for the school district or charter school.

Recommended audience: building principal or their designee, or other staff responsible for handling bullying complaints and investigations. Typically only one to two staff members per building take this training.

CEUs: teachers, social workers, nurses and school administrators.

Description: ***This is a 2 day event May 10th and May 11th***
TMR uses the ICF model and follows an 8-step process to identify limitation in mobility and their connection with functional outcomes which match caregiver concerns. Range of motion and/or control improves using indirect techniquest by understanding the relationship between a hypo mobile area in one area creating hyper mobility elsewhere. Postural symmetry improves the patient can better access control. Caregiver are instructed in family friendly therapeutic play and position activities to incorporate into daily routines. Therapeutic positions are in the direction of ease which is well received by patients as it is a pain free concept. Functional outcomes are rechecked post treatment.
Total Motion Release-Level 1 will provide extensive lab time for the therapist to learn the foundational TMR concepts, a systematic process to identify restriction in mobility, the single plane exercises, combos and alternative positions. The student will also be introduced to increasing range of motion with a pain free method, strengthening, postural control, transitions, weight shifting, pre-gait and gait training.

STAR Workshop Content
The instructional methods of discrete trial training, pivotal response training, teaching functional routines, and positive behavior interventions and supports form the instructional base of this comprehensive program. Description: About The Zones of Regulation
The Zones of Regulation is a framework and curriculum designed to foster skills in self regulation, including emotional control, sensory regulation, and executive functions. It is a systematic, cognitive behavior approach that uses four colors to help students visually and verbally self identify how they are functioning in the moment given their emotions and state of alertness. The model incorporates Social Thinking concepts to help students use perspective taking, to identify how they are thinking and feeling, and understand how their thoughts and behavior impact those around them. Through using the curriculum individuals become more self aware and learn tools they can use to regulate to a more expected state. The Zones of Regulation curriculum is published by Social Thinking Publishing (www.socialthinking.com). It can be used effectively in home, school, and clinical settings, as well as in conjunction with previously taught regulation strategies.


About the Presentation
The Zone of Regulation presentation provides teachers, therapists and parents with hands on knowledge on the nature of self regulation and strategies for improving self regulation and emotional control in individuals of all ages. The presentation addresses topics such as the brain’s involvement, typical development, sensory processing, emotional regulation, and executive functioning. Audience participants will learn an explicit, stair stepped method and tools to guide students in utilizing The Zones framework across situations and environments to regulate sensory needs, impulses, and emotional states to social demands.

Description: Registration for the 2018-2019 season. Academic Decathlon is a national scholastic competition designed to stimulate intellectual growth and encourage greater respect for knowledge. The format includes students with A, B and C grade-point averages competing in ten curricular areas. Competitions range from local scrimmages to national contests.
